Mechanical woes struck top contenders, DuBois capitalized

Many came to win, but fate had other plans as mechanical woes struck top contenders. DuBois capitalized, securing one last victory in his Outlaw racecar.

Sabine Speedway saw an intense night of racing on Friday, but for two top contenders, their bid for victory was cut short by unfortunate misfortunes. While Joshua Martin and C.J Howell suffered heartbreaking setbacks, Dalton DuBois powered through the adversity to capture an emotional win—his final one behind the wheel of his Outlaw racecar.

DuBois entered the night knowing it would be his last time piloting his machine after making the decision to sell it just a day earlier. Starting the feature in sixth place, he wasted no time carving his way through the field. Within ten laps, he found himself running in second, fully aware that he had a car capable of taking the checkered flag.

A caution midway through the race added another layer of drama, but as the field tightened up for the restart, DuBois noticed an issue—his fuel pressure was dropping. Despite the setback, he held onto second place, determined to make the most of his final laps in the car.

With just two laps remaining, race leader C.J. suffered a blow as a tire went down, handing the lead to DuBois. Though a win is a win, DuBois knew this wasn’t the way any racer hopes to take a victory.

“I hate the bad luck for C.J. because this isn’t the way any racer likes to win a race,” DuBois said in Victory Lane. “But you have to take them how you get them because they are very hard to come by in this Factory Stock class.”

Despite the bittersweet circumstances, the night ended with DuBois celebrating one last time in Victory Lane before officially parting ways with his Outlaw racecar on Sunday.

With this chapter closed, the question now is—what’s next for Dalton DuBois? One thing is certain: his winning ways are far from over.
